The Challenge

The collection is comprised of hundreds of bronze marble and plaster sculptures and assorted architectural building elements. . The building attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The objects are located in an active, public setting.

The Solution

Daedalus has performed a cyclical conservation and maintenance program for National Statuary Hall Collection in the U.S. Capitol Building for over fifteen years. The scope of treatment ranges from general maintenance (dusting, washing, inspection) to comprehensive treatments such as repair, compensation for missing parts and application of surface patinas and coating. Work is generally conducted at night when building is closed to the public.
