Boston, MA This bronze and granite civil war memorial by Martin Milmore sits atop Flagstaff Hill in the center of the Boston Common. The five heroic sized bronze sculptures were cleaned, repaired, re-patinated and coated. Several missing parts such as swords and decorative elements were fabricated in bronze. The granite was cleaned and re-pointed. The carved lettering was gilded. Client: City of Boston/Weston and Sampson Architects

Memorial Bridge Portal Plaque Eagle

The bronze plaque and eagle dedicated to those who served in WW1 was conserved as part of the Portsmouth NH/Kittery ME bridge reconstruction project. The memorial was removed from the bridge, cleaned, repaired, re-patinated, coated, re-gilded and installed on the newly fabricated bridge. Client: State of NH/Walsh Construction GC

Fairview Cemetery Soldier

Boston, MA This bronze civil war memorial was knocked from it's pedestal, resulting in damage to the figure's rifle and mounting system. Structural repairs were made to the rifle and the mounting system. A new scabbard was fabricated. The sculpture was cleaned of a deteriorated (wax) coating and the sculpture was re-patinated and coated with an acrylic coating. A new hole was drilled in the granite to accept the mounting pin and the sculpture was set back on its pedestal. Client: City of Boston

Mt. Auburn Cemetery Cambridge, MA This granite, marble and bronze memorial to William Harnden was cleaned of stains and accretions. The gypsum crusts which had formed on the marble, were removed using an Nd:YAG conservation laser. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration between Daedalus Inc. and Mount Auburn Cemetery to conserve the cemetery's most important memorials. Client: Mount Auburn Cemetery

Saratoga Springs, NY The Spirit of Life by Daniel Chester-French was created as a memorial to Spencer Trask. The Bronze sculpture was cleaned of corrosion and deteriorated surface coating and restored to its original finish. This project received an award from the Preservation League of New York State for excellence in historic preservation. Client: City of Saratoga Springs
